The Sigatoka Magistrates Court has found that a former employee of Post Fiji Limited has a case to answer for corruption-related offences.
Paula Ramasiga is charged with one count of Theft, an alternative first count of General Dishonesty – Obtaining a Gain and one count of Falsification of Documents.
It is alleged that between 3 August 2017 and 30 June 2018 whilst employed at Post Fiji Limited, Mr. Ramasima dishonestly appropriated $17,972.55, Post Office stock valued at $591.93 and folio stock amounting to $610.36.
On 16 April 2018 at Keiyasi, Navosa, Mr. Ramasima is also alleged to have falsified a received telegram form and a payment voucher in the amount of $13,000 with the intention of obtaining a gain.
The accused had pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The hearing was held over 3 days commencing on 21 July 2025 with the State calling 5 witnesses and tendering 18 exhibits in support of the charge.
In delivering the No Case to Answer ruling, Resident Magistrate Joseph Daurewa said he had considered all the evidence as adduced.
“There is relevant and admissible evidence for all elements of the offences contained in the charge,” RM Daurewa said.
RM Daurewa added that he is satisfied that the State has made out a prima facie case sufficient to put the accused to his defence
