The Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC) held its first-ever church service this morning at the Centenary Church in Suva.
The service, which was hosted by staff who hail from the Burebasaga confederacy, was attended by Acting Deputy Commissioner Ms Francis Puleiwai, senior management and staff from the Central Division as well as staff from Lautoka and Labasa offices, who joined virtually.
Professional Standards Officer Mr Mosese Matanisiga delivered the welcome remarks and acknowledged all staff for their commitment to upholding the values of the Commission, whilst carrying out their duties.
Mr Matanisiga says as the Commission plans to hold monthly or quarterly church services, to be hosted by the various confederacies, the institution recognizes this as a great way to instill a stronger and healthier commitment amongst staff towards achieving our goal to combat corruption in the country.
He adds the nation of Fiji and the Blue Pacific looks to the Commission to lead the way in the fight against corruption.
In delivering the sermon, Superintendent of the Suva Division of the Methodist Church in Fiji, Reverend Manasa Saraqia commended FICAC for committing their work to God.
Rev. Saraqia says in carrying out the work of the Commission, FICAC staff are duty-bound to uphold the principles and values enshrined in the 2013 Constitution regarding integrity, commitment and impartiality; the same principles and values that embody the Christian faith.
Rev. Saraqia wished the FICAC officers well as they serve in their respective departments across the country.
