FCS Partners FICAC in Anti-Bribery Campaign

The Fiji Corrections Service and the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC) have launched a significant partnership under the Public Integrity and Anti-Bribery Campaign.
In his welcome speech, FCS Commissioner Dr. Jalesi Nakarawa says today marks a pivotal moment in the Commission’s ongoing journey to uphold the values of transparency and accountability within the organization.
The Commissioner says this new collaboration with FICAC is a testament to the shared commitment between the two organizations to fostering an environment that is free from corruption and unethical practices.
FICAC Acting Deputy Commissioner Ms Francis Puleiwai shared the same sentiments, saying the “I Don’t Accept Bribes” campaign aims to bring about a long-term behavioural and systematic change for the benefit of everyone living in Fiji.
According to Ms Puleiwai, this is done by preventing and reducing bribery and corruption amongst the public servants in Fiji and to promote transparency, accountability and professionalism, with the aim of improving critical public services.
In addressing senior FCS officers at the launch, Ms Puleiwai challenged them not to turn a blind eye to corrupt practices or corrupt activities happening around them.
She adds by being silent about it or turning a blind eye to corrupt practices, it equally amounts to being corrupt.
Ms Puleiwai then had the honour of badging the FCS Commissioner with the “I Don’t Accept Bribes” badge, before the latter bestowed badges on his officers.
The launch then concluded with an Anti-Bribery training session, facilitated by Corruption Prevention Officer, Mr Inoke Drawe.
