High Court fixes hearing date for a state application

An application seeking a stay of the criminal proceedings against former Deputy Prime Minister Professor Biman Prasad was called before Justice Thushara Rajasinghe in the High Court at Suva today.

The Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption instituted the underlying criminal proceedings, which are currently before the Magistrates Court.

The High Court directed Professor Prasad to file a supplementary affidavit by the afternoon of 15 September 2026. The High Court directed FICAC to file its affidavit in response by 4.00 pm on Wednesday, 16 September 2026.

Professor Prasad may file an affidavit in reply by Thursday, 17 September 2026.

The application has been fixed for hearing on Friday, 18 September 2026. The Court indicated that it will deliver its ruling on Monday, 21 September 2026.
