FICAC Soft Launches Revamped Good Kiddo Programme

The Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC) has soft launched its revamped “Good Kiddo” Programme, an initiative aimed at nurturing honesty, integrity, accountability and ethical decision-making among Fiji’s children and young people.
The launch, which was held today at Suva Civic Centre brought together students from 10 schools in the Central Division, teachers, representatives from the Ministry of Education and the Fiji Head Teachers Association, and FICAC Heads of Departments and officers.
Designed for students from Year 1 to Year 8, the Good Kiddo Programme promotes four core values – trust, honesty, obedience and respect – through interactive and age-appropriate learning activities.
A key aspect of today’s launch was the introduction of the “Good Kiddo Song” and Good Kiddo Activity Book, developed to make learning about integrity and honesty engaging, practical and meaningful for students.
The Activity Book includes age-appropriate exercises that reinforce the programme’s four core values.
Speaking at the launch, FICAC Acting Commissioner Lavi Rokoika said the values promoted through Good Kiddo begin at home and in the classroom.
“The choices we learn to make when we are young help shape the people we become as adults Acting Commissioner Rokoika said.
She said the programme has been designed to continue beyond the launch through activity books and other learning activities, ensuring the values are reinforced over time.
Acting Commissioner Rokoika encouraged students to put the values into practice in their everyday lives.
“To our students, I leave you with one simple message; Let honesty guide you, treat others with respect, be worthy of the trust placed in you and always have the courage to speak up.”
Delivering the vote of thanks, FICAC Manager Complaints & Governance Ms Kolora Naliva said that FICAC has always believed that the fight against corruption must begin with education, awareness and values and the Good Kiddo Initiative embodies this belief.”
“Today marks not only the unveiling of a program, but the beginning of a journey, one that seeks to nurture integrity, responsibility and good citizenship among our young people,” Ms Naliva said.
FICAC will continue working with schools, the education sector, communities and other stakeholders to promote the revamped Good Kiddo Programme and support the development of a future generation committed to integrity, accountability and good citizenship.
