The Sigatoka Magistrates Court has convicted Paulo Ramasima, a former Postmaster at the Keiyasi Post Office, of one count of theft and one count of falsification of documents in Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption v Paulo Ramasima (MACD 1/21).
The judgment was delivered on 9 July 2026.
The Court found that, between 3 August 2017 and 30 June 2018, Mr Ramasima dishonestly appropriated $17,972.55 in cash, post-office stock valued at $591.93 and folio stock valued at $610.36 belonging to Post Fiji Limited.
The Court also found that, on 16 April 2018, Mr Ramasima falsified a Received Telegram Form and a payment voucher for $13,000.
The Court was satisfied that the prosecution had proved the offences of theft and falsification of documents beyond reasonable doubt and convicted Mr Ramasima on both counts.
Mr Ramasima has not yet been sentenced.
The Court directed the prosecution and defence to file sentencing and mitigation submissions within the periods fixed by the Court.
The matter has been adjourned to 31 August 2026 for a compliance check.
Mr Ramasima was represented by the Legal Aid Commission, while FICAC Counsel Joshua Prasad appeared for the prosecution.
