Courtesy Visit by the International Cooperation Department – Ministry of Justice Japan

The Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC) hosted a courtesy visit by the International Cooperation Department (ICD) from the Ministry of Justice Japan this afternoon, Friday, 4 October 2024 at its Headquarters.
Commissioner Ms. Malimali along with the Management of FICAC welcomed Mr Seto Takeshi, the President of the Research & Training Institute at the Ministry of Justice Japan, Professor Mr. Hara Shoichi and Professor Ms. Murakami Aiko also from the International Cooperation Department (ICD). Accompanying the delegation was First Secretary of the Embassy of Japan to Fiji Ms Kotoha Itakura and Mr Pauliasi Nawaikula of the Attorney General’s Office.
The delegation was briefed on the operations of the Commission highlighting important aspects such as digitization of criminal matters, Fiji’s standing for the 2023 Corruption Perception Index, the process of investigation and the activities of its proactive arm.
The delegation was given a tour of its Headquarters showcasing the different departments and units within the Commission prior to their departure.
