The Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC) has discontinued its legal proceedings against the former SODELPA Parliamentarian Adi Litia Qionibaravi.
FICAC has filed a Nolle Prosequi based on the medical assessment of the accused by three physicians at the Colonial War Memorial Hospital (CWMH) who have recommended that Qionibaravi was unfit to participate and follow court proceedings, give evidence or instruct a legal practitioner.
High Court Judge Justice Dr Thushara Kumarage has allowed FICAC to file the necessary documents in the event if there are any changes in circumstances.
Adi Litia Qionibaravi was charged with one count of Giving False Information to a Public Servant and one count of Obtaining a Financial Advantage.
It is alleged that Qionibaravi falsely stated her permanent residence to be Ucunivanua, Verara, Tailevu to the former Acting Secretary General to Parliament Viniana Namosimalua and in doing so, claimed for travel and accommodation allowances which she was not entitled to.
A total sum of FJD$15,480 was obtained by Qionibaravi between August 2019 and April 2020.
Qionibaravi has been discharged under Section 49 of the Criminal Procedure Act 2009.
