Fresh charges were laid today against a Samuel Zinck for impersonating a FICAC Officer in March and May 2012 respectively.
FICAC Prosecutor, Francis Puleiwai informed Court that 1st phase disclosures have been served to Defense Counsel and requested two (2) weeks to be given to Prosecution to serve the 2nd phase disclosures.
The Court was also told by Prosecution that the accused was in custody and will only be released upon provision of a surety and adequate bail conditions imposed.
Upon questioning by Magistrate Makereta Mua about his surety, Zinck informed the Court that his older brother, however, Zinck's older brother informed the Court that he will be traveling to overseas sometimes towards the end of November. Prosecution then asked the Court if the accused's surety can be someone else, the accused told the Court that his nephews were present however he was informed by Magistrate Mua that his surety needed to be someone who is older. To this, the accused's brother informed the Court that since he will be leaving on 24/1//2013, he can be his surety until the next court date, in which the accused can bring another surety to sign. Prosecution had no objection to this.
Magistrate Mua made the following bail orders to be adhered to at all times by the accused:
- To report to FICAC HQ every Friday between 6am and 6pm;
- Not to reoffend while out on bail;
- Surrender all his travel documents and the Immigration to be notified of the order;
- Should not interfere with state witnesses of this case while out on bail; and
- Accused to sign a surety with a bail bond of $500.
The matter was adjourned to 14/11/2013 for 2nd phase disclosures to be served and substitute surety to be confirmed. |
