TLTB Officer takes his plea

An iTLTB Estate Officer who was produced before the Nadi Magistrate Court on 7 June 2013 after he was arrested by FICAC for soliciting and accepting bribes, has pleaded not guilty to both counts of is bribery charges.


Mesake Beranaliva appeared in Court today without his Defense Counsel, Mr. Tunidau and was read his charges of two Counts of Bribery contrary to Section 4(2) (a) of the Bribery Promulgation. He understood and then entered a plea of NOT GUILTY to both counts.


Following the taking of his plea, Court enquired into the number of witnesses for Prosecution. Prosecution confirmed 11 witnesses at this stage without the admission of caution interview, however, Prosecution will be relying on witness evidence and documentary, audio and visual evidence.


Beranaliva's hearing is set for 12 to 16 May 2014 but the matter is adjourned for mention for any other outstanding matters to 13 January 2014.
