Former Police Officer charged with Bribery

Timoci Naulu, an Acting Inspector of the Fiji Police Force in Nadi has been charged by FICAC with 2 counts of bribery, contrary to section 4(2) (a) of the Prevention of Bribery Promulgation No. 12 of 2007.
It is alleged that between 25 and 29 September of 2013, Naulu, without lawful authority, solicited an advantage of FJ$5000 from Kamlesh Kumar so as to not file charges against Kamlesh Kumar.
In addition on the 29th September 2013 Naulu accepted an advantage of FJ$200 and AUD$200 from Kamlesh Kumar, so as to not file charges against Kamlesh Kumar.
Naulu appeared before Magistrate Wickramasekara and has been released on bail on the condition that he does not re-offend; not interfere with complainant/witnesses of the case; and to report to FICAC Lautoka every Friday between 8am and 4pm. He had also produced a surety for the sum of $2000 bail bond.
His case has been adjourned to 25 November, 2013 for plea and for disclosures to be served.
