Filimoni Cakobau Changes Lawyer

FICAC case against the former Senior Technical Assistant of the Ministry of Industry and Trade was called before Magistrate Sufia Hamza this morning for mention to check on the Defence Counsel representations.


Filimoni Cakobau was present and informed court that Legal Aid will be representing him from now onwards. He was previously represented by Mr. John Rabuku who had his practicing license suspended last month.


Mr. Waqainabete of Legal Aid made an appearance for the Accused and informed court that Legal Aid will be representing the Accused and that the proposed Agreed Facts and Agreed Documents had been served to his client and he will respond to Prosecution accordingly.


Magistrate Hamza informed Mr. Waqainabete that the hearing date has already been fixed for 25-26th of November and she will give another adjournment date for Pre Trial Conference. Mr. Waqainabete confirmed that he had another hearing on the same date but will endeavor for another Legal Aid Counsel to handle the hearing.


The case is adjourned to the 5th of November for Pre Trial Conference.
