FICAC has completed its Corruption Prevention and Risk Reduction (CP2R) Report on the Ministry of Lands and Mineral Resources as a result of the assessment conducted back in April 2013 which involved establishing the organization's ethical infrastructure and generic hotspots. Hotspots are areas in an organization that are most vulnerable to corrupt behaviors.

The assessment process also involved assessing and measuring the incidence of weak spots using the CP2R standards and its weighting formula.

During the exercise, participants were grouped according to their sections. Discussions focused on each member's understanding, awareness, assessment and rating of the work policies, procedures and practices in the Ministry of Lands and Mineral Resources.

Participant's behavior during the three-day workshop was also assessed and recorded. Observations involved how well the participants interacted and responded to the case scenario analysis and its accompanying questions of discussion.

The report was presented to the Ministry's Permanent Secretary, Tevita Boseiwaqa, who expressed his gratitude to FICAC for assisting them with recommendation on policy changes and the way forward for the Ministry if it is to improve its service and administrative efficiency.

A presentation of the whole report will be conducted on Thursday, 12 September, 2013 to the Ministry's representatives at the April workshop.

FICAC commends the Ministry of Lands and Mineral Resources for paving the way in their effort to reduce corruption risk within their organisation.
