The two former Nausori Town Council workers who were charged by FICAC in March 2013 at the Nausori Magistrates Court were found to have breached their bail conditions according to FICAC Prosecutor Francis Puleiwai.
The two former Rates Officers, Iniana Tabuwaiwai and Timaima Mocevakaca are suppose to be reporting to Nabua and Nausori Police Stations respectively as per their bail conditions.
Tabuwaiwai and Mocevakaca who have been charged by FICAC for thirty two (32) counts of causing a loss contrary to Section 324 (2) of the Crimes Decree 2009 dishonestly caused a loss to the Nausori Town Council by not taking steps to deposit the amount totaling $7,981.85 received as rate payment by rate payers in the Nakasi and Nausori area. The alleged offences occurred between January and November of 2010.
Both accused were expected to give their plea on Tuesday, 13 August 2013 however, Tabuwaiwai's Legal Aid Counsel informed the Court that she needed further time to look through the documents relating to her client's statement before her client can take a plea.
Mocevakaca's lawyer, on the other hand, informed the Court that Mocevakaca was ready to enter her plea.
After warning both accused persons of the consequences of absconding bail, Magistrate Waleen George adjourned the matter to 28 August, 2013 for both their pleas to be taken. |
