Case against a Northern Division PWD Acting Supervisor and Storesman

Investigation into an allegation that an Acting Supervisor of the Water and Sewage Section of the Public Works Department in the Northern Division and a Storesman had received rewards of money through telegraphic money orders amounting to $5082.32 and $950.00 respectively.

It was alleged that the incidents took place over various occasion between 2004 - 2006 and that the money had been sent to them by three staff of Islands Electric Supplies.

Their trial took place between 2nd - 5th August 2011.

On 14th February 2012, Magistrate Ropate Cabealawa ruled that there was 'no case to answer' in the above matter and acquitted Shui Kumar Naidu and Mahabir Singh accordingly.
