Commissioner Aslam launches the EACO Ethics and Anti-Corruption in Oceania by the Fiji National University (FNU)

The Fiji National University (FNU) launched the EACO Ethics and Anti-Corruption in Oceania short course on Friday, 15 July 2022 at the Nasinu, Campus.

The launch was in the presence of the Commissioner of the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC) Mr Rashmi Aslam, the Acting Dean of the College of Humanities and Education Mr Jerry Wong, the Chair of Integrity Fiji Mr Jofiliti Veikoso and representatives from both the Fiji National University and Integrity Fiji.

The EACO Ethics and Anti-Corruption in Oceania is a follow-up course to the very successful Massive Open Online Course (MOOC), an online Anti-Corruption Module which was offered by the Fiji National University in 2021 through the support from Integrity Fiji, Transparency International and FICAC and attracted over 1,300 enrolments from Fiji and the Pacific Region.

Speaking at the launch of the course, Chief Guest and Commissioner Mr Rashmi Aslam stated that the course was an excellent starting point in rejuvenating the values and ethics within the community.

I am delighted to note that the Department of Ethics is developing degree level majors in Governance, Ethics, Anti-Corruption and Sustainable Development. This certainly will be the paradigm shift in making a young generation of integrity,” said Commissioner Aslam.

The course which has ten (10) credit points will span over six (6) weeks covering five modules such as Ethics, Values, Integrity and Ethical Theories. Students will view case studies of corruption in Oceania, the role of anti-corruption agencies and the work they perform in Oceania.

The course is directed toward individuals working in both public and private sectors and NGOs who have an interest in learning more about ethics, moral reasoning and anti-corruption within the Oceania region.
