A former Colonial War Memorial Hospital (CWMH) Revenue Collector was sentenced to 18 months imprisonment in the Suva Magistrates Court today.

Mr Ravnesh Sagar was charged last July with one (1) count each of Falsification of Documents and General Dishonesty – Obtaining a Gain by the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC).

The Accused pleaded guilty to the offences and admitted to falsifying the original and copy of a receipt belonging to his former employers to obtain $196.20FJD between December 2018 and January 2019.

In delivering the Sentence, Resident Magistrate Mr Jioji Boseiwaqa acknowledged that the Accused admitted to the offences and cooperated with FICAC.

Furthermore, he emphasized that the offending is a serious breach of trust whilst being employed in the public service and that such breaches required immediate custodial sentences as a deterrent.
