Savusavu Revenue Collector Takes Plea

A former Revenue Collector for the Ministry of Justice in Savusavu entered his plea to corruption-related charges in the Savusavu Magistrates Court yesterday.


Mr Tomasi Raikivi was charged by the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC) in July with one (1) count of Corrupt Transactions with Agents and one (1) count of General Dishonesty – Obtaining a Gain.


He pleaded not guilty to the first count and pleaded guilty to the second count whereby he admitted to using receipts, revenue collectors cash analysis sheet and bank lodgements with false material to obtain $1,402.95 between June 2015 and September 2017.


Resident Magistrate Mr Timoci Qalinauci provided Prosecution with time to file the agreed facts and agreed bundle of documents for the first count and to prepare the summary of facts for the second count.


The matter was adjourned to 24 February 2020.
