A former Revenue Collector at the Sigatoka Magistrates Court Registry was charged with corruption related offences yesterday.

The Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC) charged Mr Rauni Moceiovalau with a count each of Obtaining Financial Advantage and Falsification of Documents under the Crimes Act of 2009.

It is alleged that in his capacity as a revenue collector, the Accused filed receipts with lesser amounts than what was initially received and so obtained $3,100.00 FJD between January and August last year.

He also allegedly falsified the duplicate and triplicate copies of the original receipts with the intention to obtain the gain from the Sigatoka Magistrates Court.

FICAC State Counsel Mr Darren Hickes informed the Court that first phase disclosures was served.

Resident Magistrate Jeremia Savou released the Accused on bail, imposed a travel ban and instructed him to report to the Rakiraki Police Station every fortnight on Saturday.

The matter was adjourned to 30 August 2019, to be called before the Chief Magistrate in Suva.
