Health Ministry Employee Charged

A Recorder with the Ministry of Health (MOH) was charged with corruption related offences in the Suva Magistrates Court today.

Mr Ravnesh Sagar was charged by the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC) with a count each of Falsification of Documents and General Dishonesty – Obtaining a Gain under the Crimes Act of 2009.

He is alleged to have falsified the original and copy of a receipt belonging to his employers in order to obtain $196.20 FJD between October 2018 and January 2019.

FICAC State Counsel Ms Arieta Vaganalau informed the Court that first phase disclosures had been served.

The accused was released on bail with a bail bond of $300 and was instructed to provide a suitable surety on the next court date.

The matter was adjourned to 23 September 2019.
