Former Ministry Employee Pleads Guilty

A former employee of the Ministry of Sugar admitted to committing a corruption related offence in the Lautoka Magistrates Court today.


Ms. Elizabeth Cokomata was charged with one (1) count of General Dishonesty – Obtaining a Gain by the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC) last year.


She admitted to falsifying a receipt claim for Accommodation allowance from the Ministry of Sugar amounting to $675.00 FJD.


Prosecution and Defence were instructed to submit their Sentencing and Mitigation submissions by 15 July 2019.


The matter was adjourned to 29 July 2019 for Sentencing.
