A Ministry of Agriculture employee was charged with corruption related offences in the Labasa Magistrate’s Court yesterday.

The Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC) charged Mr. Timoci Vakaboro with three (3) counts of Falsification of Documents and four (4) counts of General Dishonesty – Obtaining a Gain from September to October 2015.

It is alleged that he falsified receipt numbers and Subsistence Allowance and Travelling Expense Claim documents to obtain $2448.00 FJD, while working as an Agriculture Officer.

FICAC State Counsel Ms. Jessie Lagonilakeba informed the Court that first phase disclosures were served and requested strict bail conditions to be imposed on the Accused.

Resident Magistrate Ms. Senileba Levaci released the Accused on bail, with $700 surety bond for the two proposed sureties, issued a Stop Departure Order and instructed him to surrender all travel documents, to remain in his current residential address and not to interfere with Prosecution witnesses.

He was also told to report to the FICAC Labasa Office every fortnight on Friday starting next week.

The matter was adjourned to 14 May 2019.
