A Land Transport Authority (LTA) employee appeared in the Lautoka Magistrate’s Court this afternoon facing a corruption-related charge.

The Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC) charged Mr. Apenisa Vunibola with one (1) count of Bribery.

It is alleged that the Land Transport Enforcement Officer accepted $300.00 FJD from an individual in January 2019.

FICAC State Counsel Ms. Josann Pene informed the court that first phase disclosures were served and that there were no objections to bail, granted that strict ones were imposed.

Resident Magistrate Mr. Nawarathna Gunaratne released the Accused on bail, issued a Stop Departure Order and instructed him to report to the FICAC Lautoka office every Friday.

He was also warned not to reoffend or interfere with prosecution witnesses.

The matter was adjourned to 8 March 2019 to check on second phase disclosures.
