Accounting Firm Employee Denies Corruption Charge

An Operations Manager pleaded not guilty to a corruption related offence in the Suva Magistrate’s Court today.


Mr. Reginald Roniesh Lal, who was charged by the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC) last October faces one (1) count of Falsification of Documents.


The N. Mudaliar and Co. employee is alleged to have falsified Tax Compliance Certificates from the Fiji Revenue and Customs Service (FRCS) to obtain a gain from Advance Construction and Aldex Trading Limited.


FICAC State Counsel Mr. Adrian Sharma informed the court that there were no admissions in the Caution Interview.


Defence counsel Mr. Shivneel Deo also said that they would not be challenging the contents of the Caution Interview.


Resident Magistrate Ms. Deepika Prakash adjourned the matter to 18 April 2019 for Pre-Trial Conference.
