A former employee of the Water Authority of Fiji (WAF) appeared in the Suva Magistrates Court today on a corruption related offence.

Former WAF Team Leader Integrated Meter Manager Mr. Fred Fuakilau was charged by the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC) with one (1) count of Bribery.

He is alleged to have accepted $1001.22 FJD from the Director of Sphynx Solutions Pty Ltd between September 2016 and April 2017.

FICAC State Counsel Ms. Josann Pene informed the court that first phase disclosures were served and requested that strict bail conditions be imposed.

Chief Magistrate Mr. Usaia Ratuvili allowed the temporary suspension upon payment of a $2000.00 cash bail bond by the Accused, releasing him on bail.

The Accused was also instructed that upon return to Fiji the Stop Departure Order would resume and that he must report to the FICAC office every Monday and Friday from 7 January 2019.

The matter was adjourned to 22 January 2019.
