WAF Employee Charged with Bribery

An Assistant Finance Officer with the Water Authority of Fiji (WAF) appeared in the Suva Magistrates Court on a corruption related offence.

Mr. Tuimasi Cataki was charged by the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC) with one (1) count of Bribery under the Prevention of Bribery Act of 2017.

It is alleged that he accepted $500.00 FJD from the Director of Sphynx Solutions Pty Ltd between September 2016 and January 2017.

FICAC State Counsel Ms. Sera Fatafehi informed the court that first phase disclosures were served and that there were no objections to bail.

Resident Magistrate Ms. Waleen George released the Accused on a $500.00 bail bond and instructed him to report to the Samabula Police Station on the 15th of every month, not to reoffend and interfere with witnesses.

The matter was adjourned to 20 February 2019.
