A former assistant court officer at the Judicial Department entered a not guilty plea at the Suva Magistrates court today.

Mr. Keven Kalpesh Chand was charged by the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC) in August with one (1) count of “Soliciting and Accepting an Advantage.”

He allegedly received $1600FJD from an individual for preparing a probate application which provides a person with the legal right to deal with the possessions of a deceased person.

This offence is alleged to have taken place between September and October last year.

FICAC State Counsel Mr. Joseph Work informed the court that second phase disclosures were served.

Defence counsel Mr. A.K. Singh requested that all the witness statements be collected before a date for trial is set.

The matter was adjourned to 26 October 2018.
