Former Ministry of Education Officer Charged for Corruption Offence

A former temporary Relieving Clerical Officer with the Ministry of Education (MOE) was produced at the Suva Magistrates Court today.


Mr. Vilive Ratumaisala was charged by the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC) for one count of “General Dishonesty –Causing a Loss”. He appeared before Magistrate Mr. Asanga Bodaragama.


It is alleged that between April 2015 and July 2015, Ratumaisala, dishonestly caused a loss to the MOE by misappropriating the Fiji Education Management Information Systems (FEMIS) Training funds amounting to FJD $11, 764.84 knowing it will cause a loss to the MOE.


FICAC Counsel Ms. Arieta Vaganalau informed Court that first phase disclosures had been served to the Accused.


Accused was then released on bail after paying a cash bond of FJD $1000.00 with strict bail conditions. A stop departure was issued accordingly.


Matter has been adjourned to 4 April 2018 for second phase disclosures to be served.
