The former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Mr. Wing Wong and the Supply Chain Manager, Mr. Abdul Ali, of Post Fiji Limited was charged by the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC) for corruption related offences today.
The two appeared before Magistrate Ms. Waleen George. Wong was represented by Mr. Pravesh Sharma while Mr. Jitendra Reddy appeared for Ali.
FICAC Counsel, Ms. Anaseini Lomani appeared for Prosecution and informed Court that first phase discourses have been served.
It is alleged that Mr. Wong between July and October of 2016, caused a risk of loss to the Fiji Revenue and Customs Authority by providing an underrated value for a LG LED 65 inch television purchased for his personal use.
It is also alleged that Mr. Ali, submitted a tax invoice to a Customs Agency knowing the document was false and that the said document was produced in compliance with the Customs Act.
Both the Accused persons were released on bail after signing a bail bond of $1000.00 each and produced two sureties each. A stop departure was issued accordingly.
Matter was adjourned to 14 March 2018 for second phase disclosures to be served.
