Media Team   |   06 Oct 2017

The Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC) will be appealing against the Judgment acquitting a Land Transport Authority (LTA) Officer of one count of Bribery. FICAC will appeal against the judgment based on several grounds of appeal.

Mr. Filimoni Bola, as a Certifying Officer with LTA was charged by FICAC in 2015 for one count of Bribery contrary to section 4(2) of the Prevention of Bribery Promulgation No.12 of 2007. Bola was alleged to have accepted an advantage of FJD 50.00 from a person on account of passing a vehicle without conducting an inspection for its fitness.

Magistrate Mr. Mosese Naivalu delivered his judgment on last Thursday at the Lautoka Magistrates Court and acquitted Bola of the charge. FICAC appeal is based on recognized legal principles and the evidence led during the trial.
